Seed Starting Kit Features
These easy-to-use kits contain all of the essential supplies you need to start up to 48, 72, or 288 plants for transplantation into the garden or other containers. We recommend utilizing tools like grow lights and fertilizers for greater success when starting seeds indoors.
This kit is ideal for beginner gardeners, seasoned plant enthusiasts, or anyone looking to grow their garden more efficiently. If you've ever wanted to try growing your own flowers, vegetables, or herbs from seeds, this kit makes it easy and convenient.
The coco coir pucks in this kit provide an ideal growing medium for seeds. Coco coir is a sustainable, natural byproduct of coconut husks and holds moisture exceptionally well. This ensures that seeds stay evenly hydrated, reducing the risk of them drying out. The pucks expand when hydrated.
When growing in tray inserts with larger cell sizes, such as the 72-cell insert, we recommend mixing your own seed-starting soil with coconut coir and perlite. The coconut coir provides water retention, while the perlite allows for adequate pore space to encourage root development.
With the combination of humidity domes and seed trays, you'll create a controlled environment that helps seeds germinate faster and with higher success rates.
The white plastic labels are perfect for keeping your seeds organized. Write the name of each seed on the label and stick it into the corresponding tray pack. When growing a full 1020 tray with a 72-cell insert (12 6-packs) we recommend growing the same seed within each cell of a 6-pack. This is considered a best practice to avoid confusion between similar-looking plants.
Planting Instructions
Hydrate the pucks according to your preferred hydration level. The coir should expand to a fluffy consistency. Fill the seed tray with coco coir or your seed starting soil mix, leaving 1-2 centimeters of space at the top. Then, use a chopstick, pencil, finger, etc., to make a small hole in each tray as deep as your seeds need to be planted (check your seed packet or the seed’s corresponding webpage). Plant 2-3 seeds per hole and lightly cover with more coco coir (unless your seed directs otherwise). Gently water the tray to fully hydrate it without waterlogging. Place the humidity dome on top and put the tray in a very bright and warm location. Using a heat mat and grow lights makes it even easier to create the perfect environment! Once your seedlings break through the soil surface, remove the humidity domes and continue to keep the soil moist. From there, follow your specific variety’s instructions. After germination, a heat mat is no longer necessary but may be beneficial when growing in a cool home environment.
Creating Your Own Seed Starting Soil Mix
Creating your own seed-starting soil mix is easy. Simply mix coconut coir and perlite together. We recommend using a ratio of 7 parts coco coir and 1 part perlite for a balance between good water retention and healthy pore space for root development.

"I remember the first time I used a kit like this; the excitement of seeing those tiny green sprouts pushing through the soil was unforgettable. It made me feel more connected to the entire growing process, from seed to harvest. Now, I look forward to starting seeds each year, knowing I’m setting them up for success right from the beginning."
