700 Days to Maturity. Rubus idaeus ‘Heritage’. Heritage Raspberry Roots. Non-GMO, heirloom, perennial, hardy raspberry roots. A classic everbearing red raspberry producing crops on old canes in early summer and on new growth into the fall. Heritage is prized for its firm, sweet-tart berries, vigorous growth, and excellent freezing and fresh-eating. It usually takes 2-3 years to start producing a full harvest.

Growing Heritage Raspberry Roots
Plant in early spring in well-drained, fertile soil, with full sun. Space roots 36 inches apart in rows 6 feet apart. Dig a hole twice as large as the root ball. Lightly loosen the root ball and spread the roots so they are covered, leaving the crown at soil level. Lightly tamp the soil to remove any large voids and ensure good root-to-soil contact.
Provide support for continued growth with a trellis or wires and water regularly, especially in dry weather. Be careful not to overwater during early spring to avoid crown and root rot until spring rains and run-off ease. Fertilizer may be applied in the early spring and again in early summer to support fruit production and new growth.
Heritage Raspberries in the Garden
Heritage is a reliable everbearing raspberry, producing fruit on primocanes in fall and again on floricanes the following summer. It is one of the most widely planted raspberries in North America.
Harvesting Heritage Raspberries
Harvest berries when fully red and slightly soft, usually mid-summer and again in fall. Pick regularly to encourage continued production, and enjoy fresh or preserve immediately. Heritage is a great variety for freezing.
