60 Days to maturity. Raphanus sativus. Relish Cross Radish Hybrid Seeds. Cool Season Annual. Relish Cross radishes are the best-selling variety in Japan due to their consistent quality, large size, and late bolting! This variety grows to approximately 15 inches long and 2 pounds in weight with white flesh and light green shoulders. They also have smooth skin and a great texture! Plant in spring or early fall when temperatures reach 60°F. Relish Cross radishes are resistant to warmer temperatures and have very late pithiness, making them a forgiving variety for those in warmer climates. ~ 2,600 seeds / oz.
Relish Cross radishes should be planted in spring or early fall when temperatures are around 60 degrees F. Sow seeds in rows 12 to 18 inches apart in holes 1/2" deep, and thin seedlings to 1 plant every 3 inches. Keep plants consistently moist as they grow. In warm climates, this variety should only be planted in early fall.
Harvest these radishes by pulling or digging them up. In areas with very compacted soil, it will likely need to be loosened with a shovel or gardening fork before the roots can be pulled.
Remove the radish tops and store them in the fridge, or use immediately. They will last as long as 4 weeks if kept cool and dry.
Given this variety’s mild flavor and crunchy texture, it’s a great choice for eating fresh as a snack! It can also be sliced and used in salads along with the tops, or tossed with vinegar for a refreshing side salad. Also, try pickling these radishes or using them in soups!
Tips From Our Gardeners
"I would recommend this variety to anyone looking for a good beginner daikon! It grows large and can resist a lot of hot weather without losing its flavor. Plus, daikon radishes are fairly low-maintenance, even for a new gardener! Keep these radishes watered and you’ll have a great crop."

Rich, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter and moisture; pH should be 5.8-6.5.
Pests and Disease:
Flea beetles, cabbage loopers, and root maggots like to target radishes and other Brassica plants. Use insecticides or floating row covers to prevent yield loss from these pests. Well-draining soil will help prevent root rot and damping off. If fungal diseases occur, treat with a fungicide as recommended by your local extension office.
