What is "Below Standard Seed"?
Simply put, it is seed that doesn't meet our state's (Utah) germination standard, a standard that varies slightly from seed to seed. Any seed intended for gardening that has a below standard germination rate cannot be sold alongside those that meet the state requirements (which often reflect the national requirements for germination).
We send samples of all our seed to the Utah Department of Agriculture, where they perform several tests to assess the quality of the seed. These state-wide and national seed standards are in line with Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA), which exist to ensure consumers that they are getting the highest quality seed, as advertised. Since this seed doesn't meet the state standard, we mark it as "Below Standard Seed".
Low germination seeds are non-refundable.

Growing Non-GMO Early Scarlet Globe Radish Vegetable Seeds
Because radishes are cool-season vegetables, they can be planted in the spring when the soil is workable. Sow seeds 0.5 inches deep and 1 inch apart. Thin seedlings to 4-6 inches apart after germination. While radishes like moist soil, be careful not to overwater as this can encourage pest problems. Early Scarlet Globe is an early to mature variety being ready to harvest in about a month. Seeds germinate in 4-10 days.
Early Scarlet Globe Radish in the Vegetable Garden
Radishes are a common crop for home vegetable gardens. Early Scarlet is an excellent spring type for fresh eating. You may want to succession plant this variety as well as it can handle warm temperatures better than many other radishes while also being frost hardy.
Harvesting Early Scarlet Globe Radish
Early Scarlet Globe is ready to harvest approximately 20-28 days from sowing. The root develops a classic round shape with red skin and crisp and mild white flesh. Each globe should develop with approximately a 1-inch diameter. Check the tops of the root to see if the correct diameter has been reached before harvesting. Harvest by gently removing the entire plant.

Tips From Our Gardeners
"I love growing radishes because they are quick to mature for an early spring harvest. Radishes make a great snack or added to an afternoon tuna salad sandwich for a nice crunch."
