60 Days to maturity. Raphanus sativus. Green Meat Luobo Chinese Radish Heirloom Seeds. Cool Season Annual. Unlike other Chinese radishes, Green Luobos aren’t globe-shaped—instead, they grow as big as 10” long! Another way they differ is their bright green flesh which looks almost like a cucumber. They are as sweet and crisp as other varieties but can have more bite if allowed to grow. Plant them in late summer and harvest pain-free in the fall. This variety produces uniform roots that are great for storing! ~ 2,100 seeds / oz.

How to Grow Green Meat Luobo Radishes
Plant in late summer for a fall harvest; spring plantings will likely bolt. Sow seeds 1 inch deep in rows 18 inches apart. Thin to 1 seedling every 6 inches. Water consistently for the best flavor and texture. Fertilize as needed, but avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers as they encourage leaf growth.
Harvesting Chinese Radishes
Green Meat radishes can be harvested as soon as they reach 6 inches in length but may be harvested later for a more pungent and spicy flavor. Loosen the soil with a shovel or fork if needed, and pull plants out of the ground to harvest. Remove the tops before storing.
It’s better to harvest your radishes a little smaller than to let them bolt so pull them up promptly if your weather gets warm.
Culinary Tips
Green Meat radishes add great color to slaws, salads, and garnishes. Try grating or thinly slicing them into these dishes. The pungent flavor of larger radishes would make great kimchi or pickles!

"I’m not a fan of spicy radishes. If you aren’t either here’s a tip for you! Pickling or cooking radishes will cut some of the spice. If your radishes come out too spicy, try adding them to soups or other dishes where other flavors will help cover up that kick."
