Growing Wando Pea Treated Seeds in the Vegetable Garden
Direct sow Wando pea seeds 0.5-1 inch deep in fertile, well-drained soil as soon as the ground can be worked in spring, or in late summer for a fall crop. Space seeds 6-9 inches apart in rows 12-24 inches apart. Although bushy and upright, some light support can improve air flow and harvest ease.
Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering and pod set. Mulching helps regulate soil temperature and conserve moisture. Companion plant with carrots, radishes, or lettuce.
Harvesting Wando Pea (Treated) Seeds
Harvest pods when plump and bright green, before peas become starchy-usually within 60-70 days. Pick regularly to extend production.

Stories
"The first time I planted Wando peas, I didn’t expect to like them as much as I did. They went into the ground early in the season, when the mornings were still cold enough to see my breath. I liked how dependable they were fabled to be. They didn’t seem to mind if the days warmed up faster than expected or if a surprise frost rolled in. Watching them grow was half the pleasure. Their vines climbed steadily, curling around the trellis like they had a plan all along. I’d walk out each morning with coffee in hand, running my fingers over the cool leaves, checking the pods as they slowly filled out. When they were ready, I’d snap them from the vines and eat them right there in the garden, the sweetness hitting me before I even thought about cooking. Later, I’d toss them into stir-fries or steam them lightly, but nothing beat that first bite in the sun. Even after the harvest was done, I’d find myself standing out there, trellis bare, already thinking about the next planting. Wando peas don’t just grow food, they grow a kind of quiet satisfaction that sticks with you long after the season ends."
