Growing Non-GMO Osteospermum Asti Series Flower Seeds
Asti Series osteospermum is easy to grow from seed and recommended for direct sowing outdoors after the frost. For earliest blooms, begin seeds indoors 8-10 weeks prior. If transplanting indoors, be sure to place Asti Series in a cool, shaded spot inside. For direct sowing, plant Asti Series osteospermum seeds 0.25 inch deep and 16-20 inch apart in loose, moderately fertile, evenly moist, and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. African Daisy plants do not require a lot of fertilization, but a light application of a balanced fertilizer can help promote healthy growth and flower production. It is best to fertilize the plants in the spring, after the threat of frost has passed, and again in mid-summer.
Do not overwater because osteospermum is native to African deserts and performs well in dry and poor soils. However, they benefit from light supplemental waterings during droughts or dry spells. Cut back spent foliage, leaves, and blooms after flowering to prolong vitality into the fall. No fertilization needed. In areas where these can persist as perennials, cut them back by one-third each fall to encourage healthy growth the following spring.

They make an excellent choice for indoor planters or lining a flower bed, walkway, or fencing. They are dramatic enough to be a focal point but can also blend into a wider landscape. About Osteospermum Asti Series Garden Seeds
These colorful African Daisies can also be used as cut flowers for cottagey arrangements. They add vibrant colors and a fluffy texture to any bouquet or centerpiece. To harvest as a cut flower, snip off the bloom as far down the stem as possible and then store in cold water to prolong its vitality.
Asti Series osteospermum is a 1999, 2008, and 2014 All-American Selections Bedding Plant Winner and noted by AAS judges as being a "preferred summer annual" for its "large blooms, thick fleshy leaves, and drought tolerance."
Osteospermum plants are generally easy to grow and care for, making them a popular choice for gardeners of all skill levels.
Osteospermum ecklonis, more commonly known as African Daisy, South African Daisy, Cape Daisy, or Blue-Eyed Daisy is a member of the Asteraceae family, or the daisy and sunflower family, and shares similar features with both varieties of flower.
Osteospermums can also be grown as an annual in zones 2-11 for gardeners who like to change things up every year. It is recommended to start the seeds indoors to ensure they have enough time to bloom.
