Growing Non-GMO Nierembergia Robe Series Flower Seeds
Robe Series nierembergia is easy to grow from seed and may be sown directly outdoors 1-2 weeks before the final frost or, for earliest blooms, start indoors 6-8 weeks prior. Germination occurs in 15-30 days with full lighting, then transplant to a larger container once there are two sets of true leaves and harden off before transplanting outdoors. Lightly press and cover 2-3 Robe Series nierembergia seeds in moist, Organically-rich, and well-drained soil 6-9 inches apart in full sun. Plants will benefit from shade and deadheading as they decline in mid-summer into the fall.
Fertilize with a complete fertilizer every 4 weeks. Mixing in organic mulch or compost can lessen the need for fertilizers. Keep weeds down, especially while the seedlings are getting established so that the plants can be free of competition. Water is about 1 inch per week. Once mature, they can tolerate mild drought. Although they can grow in zone 10, Nierembergia does not prefer hot temperatures and will need shade in hot summers. Pinch the young plants back when they have completed their first round of blooming (usually mid-summer) and they will flush back with even more as the temperatures cool down a bit.
Nierembergia Robe Series in the Flower Garden
The Nierembergia Robe Series flowers have a very wildflower-like appearance. They fit right at home in cottage gardens and other similar styles. Because they are so low-growing they look wonderful when paired with taller flowering plants such as Zinnias and Rudbeckias.
Landscape Use of Nierembergia Robe Series
The short stature, feathery foliage, and bright purple blooms look wonderful in annual beds, mixed into patio pots, and more! They are not typically planted in a mass, but when they are, it is striking. They will look undeniably beautiful in your garden or landscape.

Tips From Our Gardeners
”In my experience, Nierembergias suffer when the soil gets too warm. To keep the soil temperature down, use a thick layer of lightly colored mulch and keep the roots cool all summer!"
