30 to 50 Days to maturity. Brassica juncea var. capitata. Serifon (Suehlihung) Chinese Mustard Seeds. Non-GMO, heirloom, cool season annual. This is a great cold-resistant mustard. It is usually planted in the late summer or early fall and does very well in deep cold. It’s also known as Green in Snow mustard. This makes it an awesome "fresh greens in the winter" garden option! It is a lovely, dark green, upright bunching mustard with nicely serrated leaves. The raw leaves are pretty strong tasting, but it has an excellent flavor when cooked. Approx 9,500 seeds / oz.

How to Grow Serifon Chinese Mustard
Serifon mustard should be started indoors a few weeks before planting. Plant 0.5 inches deep in a small pot. Keep well watered and with plenty of light. Transplant in late summer or early fall, about 10 weeks before the first frost of the year for a fall harvest or as late as four weeks before the first frost for a winter harvest. Plant new seedlings every 2 weeks for a continuous harvest. Soil temperature should be 45-60°F for best results. Plant the seedlings about 12 inches apart, with rows spaced about 18 inches apart. This mustard will bolt in warmer temperatures, doing much better in cool-to-cold weather.
Harvesting Serifon (Suehlihung) Chinese Mustard
It is more resistant to the cold before it reaches full maturity, and the leaves will be sweeter. Harvest the entire full-sized plant when it is between 12 and 18 inches tall by cutting at ground level. It can be harvested early with baby greens ready at about 3 weeks after sprouting. Cut the mustard plant at the base when the leaves are up to 6 inches tall.
Culinary Tips
Serifon Chinese Mustard is really great in salads, but it’s especially good when stir-fried in oil with a healthy amount of onions and garlic. It can be served as a side or mixed with pork (a Chinese cuisine favorite), chicken, beef, or even tofu crumbles!
