Growing Pennyroyal Mint in the Herb Garden
Sow seeds on the surface or barely covered to a depth of about 0.125 inches—direct sow outdoors after frost or start indoors about 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting, spacing plants about 18 to 24 inches apart.
Keep soil moist, well-drained, and plant in full sun to partial shade. Pinch back stems to encourage bushiness, divide or contain to manage its spreading habit, and use as a pest-deterring groundcover in herb and vegetable beds.
Harvesting of Pennyroyal Mint
Harvest aerial parts with scissors when mature stems and lavender flowers appear, typically mid to late summer. Cut cleanly to encourage regrowth.
Use leaves, fresh or dried, sparingly for teas or flavoring—but always with caution due to their potency and toxicity.
About Pennyroyal Mint Garden Seeds
A fragrant perennial in the mint family valued since ancient times for its lavender blooms and strong aroma.
Traditionally used as an insect repellent and medicinal herb, though toxic in large doses.
Vigorous and aromatic—excellent in containers or as groundcover, but can become invasive if not managed.
