How to Grow Flower Bulbs, Bare Roots, Seed Potatoes & More
Growing Fata Morgana Asiatic L-ilies
Plant bulbs 6 inches deep in fertile, well-drained soil in early spring or fall. Space 8-12 inches apart. Choose a full sun to partly shaded location. Keep soil moist but not soggy. Mulch helps conserve moisture and cool the roots.
It is normal for lily bulbs to appear with small cuts, scars, dimples, or discoloration. This is due to the harvesting and cleaning processes. Good bulbs should feel firm, and can sometimes have bulblets or offshoots already forming. While some bulbs may appear “prettier” than others, their firmness is the best way to know that they are good and viable.
Fata Morgana Lilies in the Garden
Fata Morgana stands out with its rare semi-double blooms, bringing a splash of sunshine yellow to borders and beds. Strong stems and bright flowers also make excellent cut arrangements. This is an especially great selection for cut flower gardens since it is pollen-free.
Harvesting Fata Morgana Lilies
Cut stems when buds show color, but before fully opening. This extends vase life. Always leave at least one-third of the stem and foliage to feed bulbs for the next year.
About Asiatic Lilies
