30-35 Days to maturity. Brassica rapa Chinensis group. Wa Wa Qing, Pak Choi (Bok Choy) Seeds. Hybrid Non-GMO Annual. This is a “Shanghai baby” pak choi variety. Plants grow upright, short (6-8" tall) and compact. Leaves are dark green with green petioles that are wide and thick. Heat tolerant and slow bolting. For late spring, summer and fall planting. Recommended variety for mini pak choi, Shanghai Miao, and small size Shanghai pak choi. ~ 11,000 seeds per oz.
Prepare fertile, well-draining soil. Sow seeds in the spring after the last frost to early summer, or late summer/early fall. Keep soil moist fertilizing as needed. Optimum growing temperatures are in the 60s°F. Fertilize crops to avoid premature bolting.
Harvesting Pak Choi
This pak choi is fully harvestable at 30-35 days. Harvest when about 6-8” tall. It is ideal to harvest pak choi in the mornings before the heat of the sun removes moisture from the leaves. Cut the pak choi at ground level.
Use in stir-fries, sauté, or braise. To prepare, rinse well and separate the stems before tearing leaf greens from ribs. Cut into thin slices. For stir fry, cut into 1/2" slices and saute with oil, vegetables, and/or the meat of your choice. Also delicious added to soups.
