55 days. Certified Organic Bull's Blood Beet Garden Seed. Bull's Blood Beet Seeds have been known to grow well in containers, flowerbed borders, and cottage gardens. Plants grow to be 8 to 10 inches in height. Their leaves are very hard and excellent in salad mix because of their contrast in color and bitterness in flavor to other greens. The Beet "lettuce" is said to have higher nutritional value than the already plentiful beetroot. Dark red roots are sweet and quality, yielding a plethora of uses in a number of recipes. Approx. 1,200 seeds/oz.
These beet plants require full sun to partial shade, and do well when growing in clumps. Seeds should be directly sown into moist soil that has a PH between 6.5-7. Keep rows 12" apart and plants 3" apart. Water them often and make sure no weeds grow in the soil, as this may disrupt growth. After around 55 days, the beetroots are ready for harvest and can be removed from the ground, but the leaves are often ready sooner than this. Remove leaves to be eaten when they are around 8" tall and have not yet wilted.
These beets are a fantastic and rewarding crop for the intermediate gardener as they require attention, but are productive.
