40-50 Days to maturity. Eruca vesicaria ssp. sativa ’Rocket’. Rocket (Roquette) Arugula Seeds. Non-GMO, warm weather heirloom annual. Arugula is a nutrient-dense Mediterranean leafy green that has been cultivated in kitchen gardens for centuries. Rocket AKA salad herb, roquette, or garden rocket is particularly renowned because it is slow to bolt in warm summers and is all-around easy to grow. ~ 14,200 seeds/oz.
Sow these seeds as early in the spring as the soil is workable, following the spacing provided. When seedlings are 2-3 inches tall, thin plants to 3-4 inches apart. These plants grow rapidly and steadily. Keep in mind that the leaf flavor gets more pungent with warm weather and less irrigation. To achieve optimum growth and flavor, sow seeds early while temperatures are still cool in loose, well-composted soil. Keep the soil evenly moist.
Roquette arugula seeds are popularly sown about every 2 weeks in the summer for a successive and season-long arugula crop. Although a slow bolting seed, rocket arugula will still benefit from partial shade in the summer heat, which encourages continuous production up until the frost. Roquette arugula seeds are a fantastic microgreens crop, able to be sown and harvested indoors year-round, a creative and appetizing way to use extra arugula seeds over the winter.
Rocket Arugula in the Vegetable Garden
This variety of arugula is perfect if your summers are too warm for other types. It can withstand higher temperatures without bolting. Bolting is when the plant starts to produce seeds and the texture, as well as the flavor of the leaves, change to be less desirable.
Try this variety in container gardens. Scatter a few seeds in a pot and keep them right next to your window or patio for easy access.
Arugula is also a great way to use up extra space in the early days of the summer around the plants that require a long growing season. For example, pumpkins take a long time to get large and fully mature; plant arugula in the open space until the pumpkin vines overtake it!
Harvesting Rocket Arugula
The baby leaves can be harvested as early as 25 days, larger leaves will be ready in 45 days. Harvest the entire plant or individual leaves.
About Rocket Arugula Garden Seeds

The flavor pairs very well with lighter flavors and bitter flavors making it the perfect accessory herb.
Not only are these leafy greens delicious when eaten fresh but they also perform well when cooked. Use them in any of the same ways as spinach or kale.
Growing arugula at home has a wide range of benefits. It is much better for the environment, shorter time from farm to table therefore higher in nutrients, and perhaps most important, you get to control any chemicals or substances that aid the growth of the plants.
Arugula contains vital phytochemicals, vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and more that are proven to benefit bodily health.
Tips From Our Gardeners
”One of my favorite ways to eat arugula is to top a fresh flatbread pizza with the crisp greens. Put them on before or after cooking!"
