How to Grow Afila 595 Peas

Sow the seeds approximately 2 inches apart in rows that are 18 to 24 inches apart. Keep the seeds fully covered by soil. These may be best grown against a fence, but the plant does not need a trellis.The afila-type vine grows with no leaves and long tendrils that will easily climb and be supported by other plants or a fence. Afila 595 grows fairly tall reaching 24-30 inches. Water daily keeping the soil moist.

Harvesting Afila 595 Peas

Afila vine peas are easy to harvest. The seed pods can be picked easily as soon as they are fully grown. The seed pods are quite large, and contain many peas. As baby greens, the young plants are completely edible. Harvest the tendrils and leaves at the top of the pea stem for a delicious tender green.

Culinary Tips

These peas can be used in any pea recipe such as buttered peas, or as a traditional vegetable side dish. The young pea shoot-tips and leaves have a delicious pea flavor. Fresh pea shoots are great as garnishes to sandwiches, tacos, or most salads. They are also excellent in stir-fry dishes with garlic or recipes such as Chinese dau miao.
