Growing Non-GMO Miracle Easter Lily Flower Bulbs Indoors
Easter lilies are commonly grown indoors to bloom earlier than normal for Easter Sunday. To bloom early, the bulbs need to be pre-cooled. These are pre-cooled bulbs that have been stored at 35-36F for a minimum of 6 weeks and are ready to be planted for blooming around Easter. Pot them up about 17 weeks before Easter. Use a well-draining potting mix, plant the bulbs 4-6 inches deep, and place them in a cool, dark place (40-50 F) for about 6 weeks to establish roots. Gradually expose them to light and warmth to encourage blooming. Keep them at around 60-62 F for at least 3 weeks. On Palm Sunday, shade the lilies to prepare for an outstanding Easter bloom.
Transplanting Miracle Easter Lily in the Outdoor Garden
These lilies thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Planting outdoors in a spot with partial shade, where they can receive morning sun and afternoon shade, is ideal. Consistent moisture is key; keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Mulching can help retain soil moisture and keep the roots cool. To improve perennial blooming power, apply a balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) in early spring and again after the blooming period. In colder climates, apply a layer of mulch to protect the bulbs during winter.
'Miracle' Easter Lilies typically bloom around Easter if forced indoors, or in late spring to early summer if planted outdoors. Deadheading, or removing spent blooms, is recommended to encourage new growth. This will also keep the plant looking tidy. Some lilies in ideal conditions will put out a second flush of blooms.
Miracle Easter Lily in the Flower Garden
'Miracle' Easter Lilies are often used in gardens as striking focal points due to their tall, elegant stems and large, trumpet-shaped white flowers. They are best planted in groups for a stunning display, often placed in borders or as background plants to provide height and structure. Their fragrant blooms emit a sweet, subtle scent.
Harvesting Miracle Easter Lily
Miracle Easter Lilies are ideal for cut flower arrangements due to their tall, sturdy stems and elegant, fragrant white blooms. Harvest the lilies early in the morning to ensure the best quality cut flowers when the buds are just beginning to open. Use a sharp, clean knife or scissors to cut the stems at an angle, leaving a few leaves on the plant to ensure it continues to gather energy. Place the cut stems immediately in water to keep them fresh. Use floral wire or stakes to keep the stems upright for support in arrangements. Removing the pollen-bearing anthers can prevent staining and prolong the life of the blooms. These lilies add a touch of sophistication and a lovely fragrance to any floral display.
About Miracle Easter Lily Garden Bulbs
Miracle Easter Lilies are not safe for consumption. Neither the flowers nor the foliage and stems are edible. In fact, all parts of the Easter lily are highly toxic if ingested, particularly to cats.
Easter lilies as a species have been celebrated for their symbolic importance and horticultural value. They are often recognized for their beauty and are a staple in many springtime and Easter floral displays.
Easter lilies hold deep cultural and religious significance. They are prominently featured in Christian Easter celebrations, symbolizing purity, resurrection, and the renewal of life. Churches often use these lilies in their Easter decorations.
Each trumpet-shaped flower typically measures between 5 to 7 inches in length and about 5 inches in diameter at the widest point.
They are often forced indoors to bloom in time for Easter. After blooming, they can be transplanted outdoors, where they can continue to grow and bloom in subsequent years.
