Growing Non-GMO Earthwalker Sunflower Flower Seeds
Sunflowers are often sown directly after the frost. Earthwalker seeds are meant to reach maturity in late summer to early fall and can be started indoors if earlier blooms are desired. Transplant once there are two sets of true leaves and harden off plants into a warm, sunny spot in the garden or an indoor container. Young plants may need staking. Otherwise, sow directly outdoors after the final frost in a warm and sunny area of the garden and sheltered from strong winds. It is recommended to plant tall varieties of sunflowers on the north end of your garden. Plant 2-3 Earthwalker sunflower seeds per hole, spaced 6-12 inches and then thin if needed once they have germinated to only the strongest seedling per space.
Earthwalker sunflowers may need staking if plants are growing isolated and away from the support of a garden or if high winds are anticipated. Trim off the declining foliage as the summer progresses. Earthwalker sunflowers have average water requirements.
Earthwalker Sunflower in the Flower Garden
Earthwalker sunflowers are full of possibilities. Use these in your flower garden as a backdrop or a border. They succeed when cultivated in rows, blocks, or singles. Scatter them in any bare spot of soil you see! Earthwalker sunflowers can be a good option for providing slight shade when widely planted in gardens that have too much sun.
Harvesting Earthwalker Sunflower
Earthwalker sunflowers grow solid black edible seeds. Here are a few simple tips for easy seed collection: When the flower petals fade, use a mesh sack that can be secured and cinched over the flowerhead. Over the next month, the seeds will mature and release into the bag!
These wonderful blooms can be used as cut flowers for fall bouquets of autumnal color. Snip off the stem with sharp scissors when they are in full bloom. Store in cool, clean water for indoor color for 1-2 weeks. For dried flowers, tie a few stems together with a rubber band and hang them upside down in a well-ventilated area for 2-3 weeks before displaying.

Tips From Our Gardeners
"I love recommending Earthwalker Sunflowers for those cultivating an all-season garden. Not many vibrant flowers bloom readily throughout the fall, but these truly shine that time of year. Coupling them with spring and summer bloomers and then some lovely red-berried bushes such as holly or cotoneaster make for a year-round garden that will excite any time of year!”
