Good post, I always wondered if I needed to add cover crops to my small raised bed garden. As I’ve learned from this article I can and probably should add a buckwheat cover crop to my garden since it seems to be good in the warm weather I’m in zone 10b. Thanks for all the detailed info on different cover crops & their benefits.

I recently became interested in cover crops to improve my nitrogen fixation, but now I’m oogling the cover crop mixes you offer. How deep do you need to turn under the crop so that it does not become a weed once you plant your garden.

    Are the mustard crops edible?

I’ll get it right one of these times! My question is how long does it take for the cover crop to start coming up? Also, do we need to protect the seeds or seedlings from birds?

My question to you is – Can I broadcast buckwheat seed and then rake it in for cover cropping? Is it too late to sow?
