Growing Non-GMO Thumbelina Mix Zinnia Flower Seeds

Zinnias can be optionally started indoors 4-5 weeks before the last frost for the earliest blooms. Otherwise, sow them directly in the garden bed or field after the last frost of the spring. Cover the seeds lightly and soak them with a mister. Keep in mind that seeds germinate best at 70-80 F. Established zinnias thrive in low water conditions, but may require a bit of extra water to help them get established. However, be sure the soil and seedlings dry out between irrigations; zinnias do not do well in overly wet conditions and thrive in drier weather.

Thumbelina Mix Zinnias bloom all summer and will expire at the first hard frost of autumn. They are very persistent and may produce new blooms into November in some regions. Expect them to reseed; however, the seeds may not survive harsh winters. If you wish to prevent reseeding, cut the flower heads after blooming and then remove the entire plant before the seeds start to develop. In zones 8 and above, seeds can also be sown in the fall for winter blooms.
