Growing Non-GMO Sweet Pea High Scent Flower Seeds
Soaking the seeds overnight in water will boost germination rates, although this is not required. Start seeds indoors or direct sow 4-6 weeks before the final frost of spring. Direct sowing is preferred. Choose a full sun location with well-draining soil. We recommend amending the soil with organic material like compost before planting. Sow High Scent sweet pea seeds 1 inch deep and 6 inches apart.
A trellis or similar structure should be inserted nearby to provide vertical support for the climbing vines. To extend blooming, add mulch to the base of the plants to keep the roots cool. Regularly deadhead any wilted blooms and foliage. While this variety can handle frosts better than other varieties, it prefers a cool but mild summer. The blooms will die out with warming weather.
