Growing Non-GMO Double Mix Portulaca Flower Seeds
Double Mix portulaca seeds grow hardy succulents that perform well when sown directly after the frost. For early blooming, start Double Mix portulaca seeds indoors 6-8 weeks prior and transplant seedlings after the frost. For direct sowing, plant Double Mix portulaca seeds 0.125 inches deep and 12 inches apart in average, medium moist, and well-drained soil in full sun. Be sure to plant Double Mix seeds at the southern end of the garden or in full sun, because this dwarfed variety can be easily cast in season-long shadow. Double Mix portulaca seeds are known to perform in poor soils and gardens prone to heat and drought. Be sure to ventilate properly.
These gorgeous Portulacas are quick to mature and will bloom throughout the summer and right up until the first frost. Deadheading them in early to mid-season will keep the plants looking neat and bright. Keep the area weed-free for beautifully vibrant blooms all season. Adding mulch around the base of the plants can subdue weeds and reduce watering needs even further. Portulacas require little to no fertilization. Apply a light feed when desired and always follow package directions. If not deadheaded, they will self-seed in optimal conditions, although seeds may not survive harsh winters.
