DESCRIPTION
Growing HiGrow Mix Scabiosa in the Flower Garden
Start scabiosa indoors 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting for earlier blooms, sowing seeds 0.125 inch deep and keeping the mix lightly moist until germination. Harden off and transplant after the last frost, or direct-sow after frost once the soil has warmed.
Space plants 9 to 12 inches apart in full sun and well-drained soil. Water at the base and harvest stems often to encourage continuous flowering. Deadhead spent blooms if you are not harvesting, and provide light support in windy sites for straighter stems.
Harvesting of HiGrow Mix Scabiosa
Harvest stems when flowers are about three-quarters open and the centers are still tight. Cut early in the day and place immediately into clean water. Regular cutting promotes more stems and longer bloom periods.
About HiGrow Mix Scabiosa Garden Seeds
QIS, which stands for Quality In Seed, is known for uniform plants, strong stems, and excellent cut flower performance. This mix produces classic pincushion blooms with a soft, ruffled look that pairs well with both bold and pastel bouquets.
Scabiosa is also a pollinator favorite and works well in borders, cottage gardens, and dedicated cutting beds.
Tips From Our Gardeners
Cut often for the longest bloom window. The more you harvest scabiosa, the more it branches and sends up fresh stems, especially when plants are kept evenly watered in hot weather.
