Growing Mrs. Bradshaw Geum Garden Seeds

Mrs. Bradshaw geum seeds are generally fast, easy to grow and most commonly sown directly outdoors, but for earliest blooms begin indoors 4-6 weeks prior to the final frost. Geum seeds can be slow to germinate and will require about 21-28 days in full lighting. Harden off seedlings if transplanting outside. Press 2-3 Mrs. Bradshaw geum seeds into soil without covering 18 inches apart in fertile, consistently moist, and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Mrs. Bradshaw geum is generally a very hardy perennial with some resistance to downey and powdery mildew. No serious pests, but monitor occasionally for spider mites, whiteflies, and aphids. Mrs. Bradshaw geum seeds are herbaceous perennials that mature in their second year as 24 inch tall shrubby uprights with an 18-24 inch spread of well-branched 3 inch ruffled scarlet-orange blooms.

Geum chiloense, or commonly known as Mrs. Bradshaw, is a cold-hardy member of the Geum family, which generally are summer annuals that will not survive beyond the frost. Although geum is found all over the world, Geum chiloense is native to Chile and has been used by the Chilean people for generations to help treat toothaches, gastric inflammation, prostatitis, and to regulate menstruation. Mrs. Bradshaw geum has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
