Growing Dukat Dill in the Herb Garden
Sow Dukat Dill outdoors directly in the garden once soil has warmed to 60°F. Plant seeds about 0.25 inches deep, with 10-12 inches between plants and 12-18 inches between rows. Dill does not transplant well, so direct sowing is recommended.
Thin seedlings as needed to avoid overcrowding. Provide full sun, well-draining soil, and moderate moisture. Companion plant with cabbage, onions, and cucumbers to help deter pests. Pinching young flower heads can extend leaf harvest.
Harvesting of Dukat Dill
Harvest leaves anytime once plants reach about 8 inches tall, snipping foliage as needed. For best flavor, pick in the morning after dew has dried. Flower umbels can be cut when seeds turn brown and dry for later culinary or pickling use. Dill seeds are ready when they easily detach from the umbels.
Dill weed adds a fresh, bright flavor to a variety of dishes, including salads, soups, and seafood, enhancing them with its distinctive sweet and slightly tangy taste. It pairs exceptionally well with potatoes, cucumbers, and creamy sauces, making it a versatile herb essential in many kitchens.

Tips From Our Gardeners
"Dukat is sometimes called “The Bouquet Dill of Scandinavia” because it was bred in Denmark for its especially rich flavor and abundant, feathery foliage”
