Growing Non-GMO Pony Tails Grass Seeds
Pony Tails Grass grass seeds are a sun-hardy grow and are most commonly sown directly outside just after the frost. For the earliest foliage fill, begin the seeds indoors 4-6 weeks prior to the last frost and seeds should germinate in 3-4 weeks with full lighting. Slowly harden off before permanently transplanting outdoors to avoid shock. Pony Tails Grass is perfect for planters and is just as popularly grown indoors as outdoors. Plant 4-5 Pony Tails Grass grass seeds .125 inches deep in rich, consistently moist, and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Pony Tails Grass performs well in full-sun gardens but will require consistent moisture. Plants can withstand some standing water and partial shade but will diminish in full shade.
Although Pony Tails Grass thrives in full sun, it tolerates partial shade. It will not tolerate consistently wet and cold environments. Pony Tails performs well in gardens prone to drought, heat, and poor and sandy soils. This disease-free and extremely low-maintenance grass is perfect for many gardens of various sizes. When growing as perennial, divide in early summer if desired.

About Pony Tails Grass Garden Seeds
Pony Tails Grass is a tolerant plant that is deer resistant.
Stipa Grass is excellent for fresh-cut and dried flower arrangements as well as landscaping. The feathery plumes and graceful grass strands add a wonderful foliage element.
Nassella tenuissima, otherwise known as Pony Tails, is native to many hot and arid regions in North and South America. Despite its prevalence throughout those two continents, it is considered an incredibly invasive species in Australia and would cause an ecological disaster if introduced to the country. Even seeds and cuttings of the plant are entirely forbidden and there was an incident in 2009 where the seeds made it into the country because Nassella tenuissima was accidentally mislabeled as Stipa lessingiana.
The genus Stipa underwent a taxonomical restructuring and Pony Tails is more correctly known as Nassella.
