Growing Non-GMO Festuca Festina Grass Seeds
Festuca Grass grass seeds are a sun-hardy grow and are most commonly sown directly outside just after the frost. For the earliest foliage fill, begin the seeds indoors 4-6 weeks prior to the last frost and seeds should germinate in 3-4 weeks with full lighting. Slowly harden off before permanently transplanting outdoors to avoid shock. Festuca Grass is perfect for planters and is just as popularly grown indoors as outdoors. Plant 4-5 Festuca Grass grass seeds 0.25 inches deep in rich, moist, and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Festina Festuca grass seeds thrive in dry and poor soils and will perform poorly in saturated and poorly drained soils. Festuca grass is native to dry climates and may decline in humidity. Plants are best trimmed back in spring and summer to control their size and promote new growth.
Although Festuca Grass thrives in full sun, it tolerates partial shade but not full shade. It will not tolerate consistently wet and cold environments below 40°F. Festuca performs well in gardens prone to drought, heat, and poor and sandy soils. This disease-free and low-maintenance grass is perfect for many gardens of various sizes. When growing as perennial, divide in early summer if desired.
Festuca Festina Grass in the Flower Garden
Festuca Grass is ideal for bordering and filling in the gaps of a flower garden. Festuca Grass doesn’t have pronounced blooms. It is perfect for covering bare soil between flowers or filling out a bed with its silvery foliage without competing for attention from those bright bloomers or other focal plants.

Festuca grass is popularly grown in decorative planters or arrangements as well as in landscapes.

This wispy and attractive grass has been known to thrive in a planter all by itself, attracting the eye and pleasing the senses.
Festuca glauca, or otherwise known as blue fescue, is one of the most widespread grasses in the world, having been naturalized throughout most of the globe. The genus Festuca is derived from the Latin word meaning "grass stalk" or "straw." The specific name glauca is also derived from the Latin word glaucus meaning "pale blue-gray."
Try planting Festuca Festina in a planter with another plant that will trail over the edge, such as vinca and lastly some kind of bold bloomer such as carnations. This three-part combination, no matter how you spin it, is a winner!
