How to Grow Habanero White Hot Peppers from Seed
Due to its South American origins, this variety of pepper is adapted to growing in hot climates; they also require consistent levels of moisture in order to germinate successfully.
It‚s recommended to start the seeds indoors in early spring, sowing them 1/4‚ deep and keeping them moist and warm until germination. Seeds usually germinate within three weeks. Once the seeds have sprouted and the weather is suitably warm, they can be moved into either larger pots or directly into the rich soil of a vegetable garden (with at least 30‚ of spacing between the individual plants to allow room for growth).
Habanero White Hot Peppers in the Vegetable Garden
Habanero White Hot Peppers are an excellent addition to any garden, although they typically do best in hardiness zones 10 - 12. Once fully mature, the plants grown from these seeds not only produce a hearty yield of small and flavorful peppers, but the pale white color of the peppers themselves can add a pleasing touch of color and vibrancy to your vegetable garden.
Rated between 300,000 and 500,000 on the Scoville scale, the small peppers that grow from these seeds are known for their tremendous heat and are a popular addition to sauces, salsas, and a wide variety of other recipes.
Smoky and faintly sweet, with high levels of heat.
Harvesting Habanero White Hot Peppers
When ready to harvest, mature peppers will turn color from greenish-white to creamy white, and will have a length of approximately 1 1/2‚.
As with most types of peppers, it‚s recommended to snip the fruit from the plant with shears (leaving a small amount of stem behind on the plant). Given the high levels of capsaicin present in these little peppers, it‚s also recommended that you wear gloves when harvesting to prevent skin irritation and avoid touching your face or eyes during the harvesting process.
