What is "Below Standard Seed"?
Simply put, it is seed that doesn't meet our state's (Utah) germination standard, a standard that varies slightly from seed to seed. Any seed intended for gardening with a below-standard germination rate cannot be sold alongside those that meet the state requirements (which often reflect the national requirements for germination).
We send samples of all our seed to the Utah Department of Agriculture, where they perform several tests to assess the quality of the seed. These state-wide and national seed standards are in line with Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA), which exist to ensure consumers that they are getting the highest quality seed, as advertised. Since this seed doesn't meet the state standard, we mark it as "Below Standard Seed".
Low germination seeds are non-refundable.

Growing Non-GMO Organic Cracker Jack African Marigold Flower Seeds
Cracker Jack marigold is a hardy, sunshine-loving entertainer and is most commonly sown directly after the frost. For the earliest blooms, begin seeds indoors 6-8 weeks prior to the last frost. Germinate them in warm soil (70-80 F is best), fully exposed to bright light. Harden off the seedlings gradually before transplanting them outdoors. After sowing and transplantation, the marigolds should be watered heavily. Cracker Jack African marigolds are native to Mexico and known to tolerate gardens prone to heat, drought, and clay soils.
Avoid overhead watering as this can cause diseases and pests to affect your garden more easily. Avoid problems by irrigating properly and keeping foliage dry. These gorgeous marigolds will bloom right up until the first frost of fall. Deadheading them throughout the season can keep the plants looking clean and productive. At the end of the season, there is an option to let the plants decay in place as an easy alternative to mulch or compost for next year’s soil enrichment. Check your plants thoroughly for diseases before letting them stay!
Organic Cracker Jack Marigold in the Flower Garden
Marigold seeds are a favorite for kids or novice gardeners because they are an easy crop that tolerates a variety of difficult conditions. Cracker Jack African marigolds are ideal to have along walkways, borders, or trimming the back of the garden. This variety is also great as a cut flower.
Companion Planting With Organic Cracker Jack African Marigolds
Cracker Jack marigolds are the ideal, easy companion plant for many other plants. Since marigolds are resistant to deer as well as many pests and diseases, they are perfect for interplanting or bordering your edible or ornamental landscape. The plants will bring in pollinators while simultaneously bringing in beneficial insects, which repel nematodes, moths, and other damaging insects.
About Organic Cracker Jack Marigold Garden Seeds
Marigolds are one of the most popular edible flowers on the market. Not only can they garnish food, but they are said to have health benefits as well. This variety is of supreme quality for bunches and bouquets.
Tagetes erecta, also known as Aztec, American, or Big Marigold, is one of the most awarded, recognized, and cultivated flowers in the entire world. Tagetes erecta is native to Mexico (specifically the states of Puebla and Veracruz), despite having a variety of names, including African or American Marigold. Marigold has been used for thousands of years by pre-Spanish civilizations in medicine, food, dyes, and rituals.
Cracker Jack Marigolds have 3-5 inch wide semi-double blooms that will keep popping up all season, especially if the old blooms are deadheaded quickly.
Cracker Jack marigolds are easy to grow from seed and are known to thrive in a wide range of hot and thirsty gardens.
Try interplanting marigolds with wildflowers, daisies, and any flower that has similar climate requirements. Marigolds love heat, and sun, and have fairly low water needs.
