Growing Non-GMO Accent Series Impatiens Flower Seeds
Growing Impatiens from seed can be difficult because the seeds are small and difficult to handle. However, with a little patience and attention to detail, it is possible to successfully grow Impatiens from seed.
For earliest blooming, start Accent Series Impatiens seeds indoors 10-12 weeks before the final frost and transplant once there are two sets of true leaves. Accent Series seeds will germinate within 2-3 weeks with full lighting. If transplanting outside, harden-off seedlings into a partially shaded location in the garden or an equally moderate place indoors. Harden-off seedlings before transplanting them outside into a shady and cool spot in the garden or a comparable place indoors. Avoid overhead watering to minimize wetting foliage.
Accent Series impatiens will thrive with shade and deadheading as they decline in the long summer months. Accent Series Impatiens are a dwarfed 6-8 inches tall variety and should be planted on the south end of the garden to avoid too much shade. When transplanting seedlings indoors to outside, acclimate them slowly to their new environment. Place them outside for a few hours a day and gradually increase the duration until they are ready to transplant. This process helps the plants to develop a “thicker skin” capable of handling the harsher outdoor elements after being protected indoors. It is important to deadhead the flowers regularly and provide the plants with adequate water and nutrients to encourage healthy growth and plentiful blooms.

About Accent Series Impatiens Garden Seeds
Impatiens walleriana is native to eastern Africa but has since become internationally renowned, most notably in the United States. Impatiens is undeniably the most popular flower sold, grown, and cultivated in the United States for many years due to its ease of culture and steady, robust flowering from spring to frost.
The genus
Impatiens is translated from Latin meaning "impatient" regarding its speedy and violent seed discharge from the ripe pods. The specific epithet
walleriana pays homage to 19th-century British missionary Horace Waller, an African writer and abolitionist of the continent's slave trade.
Impatiens are edible for humans and animals. Although they don’t have a strong flavor, their bright colors add a wonderful dimension to salads and cocktails! Use caution when consuming new plants, as individual sensitivities and allergies can be present.
Tips From Our Gardeners
"I have found that although impatiens blooms are beautiful, they are rather delicate. Too much water on the petals or traffic near the plants can damage the flowers. Luckily, they can be deadheaded and will regenerate easily!"
