Growing Non-GMO Mrs. Bradshaw Geum Flower Seeds
Mrs. Bradshaw geum seeds are generally fast and easy to grow. They are commonly sown directly outdoors, but for earliest blooms begin indoors 4-6 weeks prior to the final frost. Geum seeds can be slow to germinate and will require about 21-28 days in full lighting. Harden off seedlings if transplanting outside. Press 2-3 Mrs. Bradshaw geum seeds into the soil, without covering, 18 inches apart in fertile, consistently moist, and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Mrs. Bradshaw geum is generally a very hardy perennial.
When transplanting seedlings indoors to outdoors, it is essential to gradually acclimatize them to their new environment (harden off). Water regularly. Regularly deadheading the flowers will encourage new flower stalks to come on. In some cases, this can encourage the plant to produce blooms into the fall. Cut back the foliage and flower stalks to ground level after flowering is over to rejuvenate the foliage. Geum does not always need fertilization as they are fairly light feeders. However, A light application of a balanced fertilizer in the spring can encourage extra blooming. The best thing to do is to mix a healthy amount of well-rotted compost into the soil before planting them out in the spring.
