Growing Non-GMO Gaillardia Mesa Yellow Flower Seeds
Mesa Yellow gaillardia has wildflower-like hardiness and is most commonly broadcasted directly after the frost but, for earliest blooms, begin seeds 8-10 weeks indoors prior. Gaillardia seeds are known to require 14-35 days to germinate in full lighting but, once established, plants are one of the hardiest wildflowers available. May reseed in optimal growing conditions. Plant 3-4 Mesa Yellow gaillardia seeds ¼ inch deep or broadcast directly in moist, Organically rich, and well-drained soil in full sun. Mesa Yellow performs well in hot, dry, sandy, and poorly tended gardens, but will show signs of root rot, powdery mildew, and yellow asters if the soil is not properly drained.
Deadeading after flowering is not recommended which makes this plant so easy to maintain! This is one of the few plants that can actually thrive under neglect. Too much attention can cause decline. It is possible to toss some seeds onto a dry hillside where little else grows and be rewarded by perennial color. No fertilization is needed.

Although it is not necessary for most growing zones, starting these indoors will ensure the earliest spring blooms. After 2-3 weeks, transplant them outside after hardening off.
Gaillardias can also be grown as an annual for gardeners who like to change things up every year. It is recommended to start the seeds indoors to ensure they have enough time to bloom.
