Growing Non-GMO Delphinium Magic Fountains Series Flower Seeds
Delphiniums are known to be a challenging plant and best started indoors 10-12 weeks before the frost. Magic Fountains Series seeds will germinate in 7-14 days with full lighting. After germination, place seedlings under a grow light and harden off to an equally sunny spot in the garden or indoors. Starts may require staking that must be readjusted as the plant matures. Delphinium is known to require considerable maintenance including staking, disease prevention, and heavy pruning and deadheading; but don’t get discouraged!
The most common problem with germination is cold soil. The soil temperature needs to be 60-70 F for any of the seeds to have a chance to come up. Apply a balanced fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season. Stake gently and shelter from strong winds. Deadhead the finished flower spikes as far down as the next flowering branch begins. Prune the whole plant to ground level in the late autumn. Where harsh winters are anticipated, a thick layer of mulch placed above the root ball can protect the plant in case of a deep, hard freeze.

About Delphinium Magic Fountains Series Garden Seeds
Delphiniums are widely loved for their beauty but also their symbolism. They represent goodness, cheerfulness, and security. Gift these seeds, starts, or cut flowers to those who may be mourning the loss of a loved one or need encouragement in some way. They are also July’s official birth flower and make great gifts for all those summer babies.
Use Delphinium in fresh-cut arrangements as a focal point or background, adding height, texture, and bulk to the collection. Trim off the flower spikes with sharp scissors or a knife and store the stems in clean, cool water for about a week.
The genus Delphinium shares the title "larkspur" with the flowering genus Consolida and is also widely known to be toxic to humans, pets, and livestock.
Delphinium elatum, more typically known as delphinium, is native to prairie clearings, woodlands, and river valleys across Europe and Siberia, although they are now naturalized throughout most of the northern hemisphere. Delphinium is one of the most popularly grown blooms ever and has been bred and hybridized since the 1500s.
