Growing Non-GMO Tropical Series Canna Flower Seeds
Tropical Series canna seeds are most commonly started indoors 8-10 weeks before the final frost. Seeds will germinate in 7-21 days in complete darkness. When transplanting, harden off seedlings to a sunny place in the garden or patio. Plants can be uprooted and potted indoors over winter and then replanted in the spring. Plant 1-2 Tropical Series canna seeds 0.5 inches deep and 36 inches apart in moist, Organically rich, and well-drained soil in full sun. Tropical Series canna seeds are vigorous seasonal performers and require full sun for full flowering. Plants should be properly ventilated, drained, and watered since plants' rhizomes may rot if oversaturated. Flowering stalks should be removed after bloom.
Do not prune back Cannas until after the first frost of the fall. Cannas can be fertilized with a balanced or high-nitrogen fertilizer. Apply the fertilizer every few weeks as directed in the package instructions, but stop fertilizing 6-8 weeks before the frost is expected. When growing as an annual, the blooms will wow you all season long, and then the entire plant can be removed at the end of the flowering season. In zones 9-11 it can be grown as a short-lived perennial and should be cut down each fall to allow the rhizome to go dormant.

Landscape Use of Tropical Series Canna
Tropical Series seeds boast one of the most attractive flowering plants on the market. They are ideal for interplanting in potted arrangements for patios and entryways. Or, mass plant them as a border or grouping for a truly eye-catching scene.
About Tropical Series Canna Garden Seeds
These charming Canna plants can also be used as cut flowers for short-lived arrangements. They add color, light, and bulk to a bouquet or centerpiece. To harvest the cut blooms, trim off the flower as far down the stem as possible with sharp scissors or a knife and preserve it in cold water. Anticipate indoor color for 1-2 days.
Canna x generalis otherwise known as a Garden Canna is likely the hybrid of Canna glauca and Canna indica or Canna iridiflora although most Canna hybrids are called after the same scientific name.
Canna comes from “Kanna”, a Greek word meaning “reed-like” which is descriptive of its growth habit.
Canna x generalis, also known as a Canna Lily, is a member of large and subtropical perennials with rhizomatous rootstocks. Canna was cultivated by indigenous people of the Americas for thousands of years for its rich, starchy, and edible roots. The genus Canna is internationally celebrated for an abundance of uses including dyes, noodles, insecticides, jewelry, and alcohol.
