How to Grow Golden Frill Mustard

Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Direct seeding is easy with this fast growing mustard, just wait until two weeks or so after the last frost. They can be started indoors a few weeks before last frost, and transplanted outdoors about four weeks later if desired. Container planting is also easy. Ensure that the soil is fertile and drains well. Soil should be kept moist, but water at the ground level and avoid soaking the leaves. Fertilize as needed. This variety is bolt resistant.

Harvesting Golden Frill Mustard

Golden frill mustard is harvestable at full growth, at 40-55 days. For baby greens, harvest much earlier usually 20-25 days after sprouting. At full growth, Early Mizuna Mustard is 12-18" tall. This is a versatile plant, and can be harvested several times.

Harvest the greens as needed, picking the leaves, and leave the main plant for multiple harvests.

Culinary Tips

This mild peppery green is delicious as an addition to any salad, especially the sweeter baby greens. One delicious option is to saute the greens with sliced onions and grated garlic. Also the baby greens are very popular in salads, due to the milder flavor.
