Growing Non-GMO Pacifica XP Series Vinca Flower Seeds
Since Pacifica XP vinca seeds are slow to reach full maturity, sow indoors 8-10 weeks before the final frost date. Pacifica XP vinca seeds are also slow to germinate and will require 10-21 days in complete darkness. Once germinated, move Pacifica XP seeds to a bright windowsill or under strong grow lights until four true leaves have developed. Transplant Pacifica XP seedlings into your favorite decorative indoor container or basket and harden off if transplanting outside (see below). Transplant Pacifica XP vinca seeds outside into average, loamy, and well-drained soil at least 8 inches apart in full sun.
Vinca can withstand many hot, drought-prone climates. Vinca can also be directly down outdoors after the final frost, but this is only recommended for areas with very long growing seasons as the plant may not flower if not given enough time. It is important to deadhead the flowers regularly and provide the plants with adequate water and nutrients to encourage healthy growth and plentiful blooms.
Pacifica XP Series Vinca is a 10-14 inches tall variety with a similar spread. When transplanting seedlings indoors to outside, acclimate them slowly to their new environment. Place them outside for a few hours a day, gradually increasing the duration until they are fully acclimatized. This process helps the plants to develop a “thicker skin” capable of handling the harsher outdoor elements after being protected indoors. A few seedlings may not survive this process, and this is normal.
Pacifica XP Series Vinca in the Flower Garden
This variety of Vinca is perfect for pots, planters, window boxes, or a vibrant border around the flower bed. The bright colors will attract lots of pollinators. Vinca can also be known as Periwinkle, Cape Periwinkle, or Rose Periwinkle, and should not be confused with Vinca minor, a shade-tolerant, trailing groundcover.
Landscaping With Pacifica XP Series Vinca
Pacifica XP Series Vinca is great to fill in patio planters or flower beds. They also love to be in window boxes and similar locations. Vinca boasts deer and rabbit resistance, as well as tolerance to rocky and dry soils.
About Pacifica XP Series Vinca Garden Seeds
Beyond its ornamental value, Catharanthus roseus is renowned for its medicinal properties. It contains several alkaloids, notably vinblastine and vincristine, which are used as chemotherapeutic agents in cancer treatment, effectively inhibiting tumor growth by disrupting cell division.
