Growing Big Chief Hybrid Butternut Winter Squash in the Vegetable Garden
Sow seeds 1 inch deep after frost when soil is warm, or start indoors 3 to 4 weeks early in biodegradable pots to minimize root disturbance. Space plants 24 to 36 inches apart with 48 to 60 inches between rows; mulch well to conserve moisture and keep fruit clean.
