Growing Non-GMO Delta Premium Series Pansy Flower Seeds
Sow Delta Premium Series pansy seeds indoors using a starting kit 10-12 weeks before the final frost. Pansies do not grow naturally in the wild and are not recommended for direct sowing. Maintain pansy seeds in complete darkness until germination, then place them under fluorescent grow lights for 16 hours per day, with 8 hours of darkness. Transplant them outside to a shady, cool spot in the garden or to a comparable spot indoors. Avoid overhead watering and wet foliage.

About Delta Premium Series Pansy Garden Seeds
Viola x wittrockiana is a hybrid resulting from tri-colored violas. The pansy exists only as a result of the mass crossing and hybridization of the viola during the 19th century and has never grown naturally in the wild. There is much debate and etymological red tape over the interchangeability of the common terms "pansies", "violas", and "violets". The species wittrockiana pays homage to 19th-century pioneering botanist Veit Brecher Wittrock.
The word "pansy" is derived from the French word "pensee," which means "thought." The plant was named for its flower's markings, which resemble a human face, with the lines on the petals mirroring facial features. Some people also believed that the pansy had the power to bring back lost thoughts or memories, which may have influenced its name.
