How to Grow Flower Bulbs, Bare Roots, Seed Potatoes & More
Growing Sunny Bahamas Oriental Lilies
Plant bulbs 6 inches deep in well-drained, fertile soil. Space 12-18 inches apart. Best in full sun to partial shade. Water regularly, but avoid soggy soil. Mulch to conserve moisture and keep roots cool. Lily bulbs may be planted in either the spring or fall seasons when the soil is workable, but not muddy.
It is normal for lily bulbs to appear with small cuts, scars, dimples, or discoloration. This is due to the harvesting and cleaning processes. Good bulbs should feel firm, and can sometimes have bulblets or offshoots already forming. While some bulbs may appear “prettier” than others, their firmness is the best way to know that they are good and viable.
Sunny Bahamas Lilies in the Garden
Sunny Bahamas produces large, exotic white blooms. Their fragrance and size make them outstanding for cut arrangements.
Harvesting Sunny Bahamas Lilies
Cut stems when buds show color but before fully open. This ensures long vase life. Leave at least one-third of the stem and foliage to replenish the bulb for next year.
About Oriental Lilies
Oriental lilies are loved for their large, fragrant flowers and elegant form. The oriental types typically mature a little later than other lilies. Sunny Bahamas stands out with its crisp white color and reliable summer blooms.
