Growing Non-GMO Dahlia Flowered Mixture Zinnia Flower Seeds

Zinnias can be started indoors 4-5 weeks before the last frost for the earliest blooms. Transplant to a container or flower bed once two sets of true leaves have been established. Otherwise, sow them directly in the garden bed or field after the last frost of the spring when the soil has warmed to about 70 F. Cover the seeds lightly and soak the top inch of the soil with a mister. Keep in mind that seeds germinate best at about 75 F. Established zinnias thrive in drought but may require a bit of extra water to help them get started; ensure the soil and seedlings dry out but do not wilt between irrigations; zinnias do not do well in overly wet soils and thrive in more arid conditions.

Dahlia Flowered Mixture Zinnias bloom all summer and will die at the first frost at the end of the growing season. They are very persistent and may produce new blooms into December in some areas without frost. Expect them to re-seed; however, the seeds may not survive harsh winters. If you wish to prevent re-seeding, cut the flower heads after blooming and pull out the entire plant before any seeds start to develop. Seeds can also be sown in zones 8 and above in autumn for winter blooms.
