Growing Non-GMO Johnny Jump Up Viola Flower Seeds
Growing violas from seed can be somewhat challenging because seeds are small and difficult to handle. In addition, Viola seeds require a cold period, called stratification, to germinate, so the seeds must be exposed to cool temperatures for a while before planting. However, with a little patience and attention to detail, it is possible to easily grow violas from seed. They may also be sown in the late summer for autumn blooms.
Sow Johnny Jump Up Viola seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the final frost. Violas are very delicate and are not recommended for direct sowing unless conditions are perfectly ideal. Maintain Viola seeds in complete darkness for germination, then place them beneath fluorescent grow lights for 16 hours per day with 8 hours of darkness. Harden-off seedlings before transplanting them outside into a shady and cool spot in the garden or a comparable location indoors. Avoid overhead irrigations to minimize wetting foliage.
When transplanting seedlings indoors to outdoors, it is important to adjust them slowly to their new environment; Put them outside for a few hours a day and gradually increase the duration until they are ready to transplant. It is important to deadhead the flowers regularly and provide the plants with adequate water and nutrients to promote healthy growth and many blooms.

About Johnny Jump Up Viola Garden Seeds
Johnny Jump Up is a European wildflower native to Spain and the Pyrenees mountains. Although Johnny Jump Up is a unique name, it doesn't compare to some of its other names: Heart's Ease, Heartsease, Heart's Delight, Tickle my fancy, Lovein-idleness, Come-and-cuddle-me, Jack-jump-up-and-kiss-me, or Three Faces in a Hood.
This variety of violas are edible and delicious! They are often used to flavor and garnish drinks, cakes, salads, and more. They are said to have a minty or spiced flavor and pair very well with lots of other fresh ingredients.
Violas can be grown as an annual or perennial to suit everyone.
The name “viola” and the flower are symbols of innocence, modesty, and decency. This is because many observed that the flowers are slow to peek out of their leafy beds in the spring. The different colored violas can all have different sub-meanings as well, including happiness, fidelity, or love.
