Heirloom Caribe Tomato Seed Growth Habits:
Caribe tomato seeds produce determinate tomato plants that remain compact and easy to care for whether they are grown in containers or in garden rows. Tolerant of both humid and dry climates, the Caribe tomato is an excellent choice for growing as an annual in all USDA hardiness zones.
As is the case with most tomatoes, Caribe tomato seeds should be started indoors 6 to 8 weeks before your area's last frost date. Tomatoes prefer warm weather and are intolerant to frost, so it is best to harden off the seedlings and transplant them into the garden after your nighttime temperatures are consistently above 50 degrees F.
Tomatoes prefer soil that is slightly acidic to neutral. Be sure your site drains well and gets at least 8 hours of sunlight each day.
Throughout the growing season, be sure to water the Caribe tomato plants consistently to prevent blossom end rot and fruit cracking.
Various Uses for Caribe Tomatoes:
Caribe heirloom tomatoes are the picture-perfect tomato with a globe-like shape, 8-oz. size, and bright red color. They are excellent for fresh use on salads and for slicing up for sandwiches and burgers. Pair Caribe tomatoes with mozzarella cheese, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette to make a delicious caprese salad.
Caribe Tomato Benefits:
Tomatoes are rich in vitamins C, A, and K, and they support heart health with lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, plus potassium, niacin, folate, and vitamin B6.
