Health Benefits
Many people consume flax oil, sometimes referred to as linseed oil, for the omega-3 fatty acids that are present. Unfortunately, this type of oil is a polyunsaturated fatty acid or PUFA and it is extremely susceptible to rancidity, especially when it is exposed to heat and oxygen, both of which occur during processing.
Buying whole golden flaxseed and grinding it yourself is the best way to avoid these oxidized oils. You can rest assured that you are getting the best quality nutrients when you grind the seeds yourself. The whole golden flaxseed has a shelf life of about a year if it is stored properly, we recommend storage in your refrigerator!
The omega-3 fatty acids that are present in flax seeds have been involved in a number of clinical studies. These studies have found that flax seeds can be part of a heart-healthy diet since they support the cardiovascular system. ALA is also found in flaxseeds and is found to lower levels of inflammation. Golden flaxseed also has minerals present, like magnesium and B vitamins. Additionally, flaxseed has a great deal of fiber which is a great way to balance blood sugar and encourage regular bowel movements.
