Growing Non-GMO Compinkie Arabis Flower Seeds
Compinkie Arabis can be started indoors or in a greenhouse 4-6 weeks before the final frost of spring. Use well-draining potting soil to start any seedlings. Arabis is generally easy to grow but struggles when overly wet or cold. Thin the seedlings to leave only the strongest, and apply a high-nitrogen fertilizer according to the directions on the package you chose. There is no need to fertilize after the initial planting. Also, try starting seeds directly in the garden bed once temperatures have warmed and there is no risk of frost. Optionally, to ensure proper plant health, mix in sand, wood chips, ground-up leaves, or other amendments to increase soil porosity before planting outside. If transplanting seedlings from inside to out, harden them off slowly to avoid shock.
Compinkie Arabis is tolerant to some heat, drought, and poor soils once established but must be drained sharply. After germination, all you need to do is wait for the flowers the following year. Deadheading spent flowers will extend the length of the blooming season. Cut back the entire plant harshly after flowering; this typically is needful in mid-summer and is used to create denser growth from year to year. Light shade can be tolerated, but full sun ensures the most amount of blooms and vitality of color.
