Zones 1-7a: These zones experience cold winter weather known to reach freezing temperatures over an extended period of time. During the month of December, it is best to limit direct sowing to wildflower seeds that will sprout in the spring months. Indoor sowing of microgreens, sprouts, and herbs is a great way to continue gathering a fresh harvest!

Zones 7b-9a: These zones experience mild winter weather, allowing for some crops to be directly sown outdoors, including leafy greens, herbs, bunching onions, radishes, cover crops, poppies, sweet peas, calendula, among others. Don't forget to also grow some sprouts and microgreens indoors!
